What is Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas?

The Ministry of Home Affairs is implementing a scheme called the”Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C)” to deal with cyber crimes in a coordinated and comprehensive manner. In order to create awareness amongst students of schools & colleges, teachers and parents it is proposed to observe “Cyber Jaagrookta (Awareness) Diwas'' on the first wednesday of every month in all Schools/Colleges/Universities/Panchayati Raj Institutions(PRI) and Municipalities by involving District Magistrates Police Authorities, Officers of Education Department etc.

About The Theme

For the month of September, 2022 CIET-NCERT has planned sessions on the theme “Being Safe and Responsible Digital Citizen”. Being a responsible digital citizen entails participating in online communities in a polite, ethical, and safe manner. Respectful online behaviour includes safeguarding one's reputation and privacy, controlling one's tone, and exercising scepticism.

A digital citizen is one who promotes and upholds responsible use of the technology utilised on a daily basis, such as the internet, computers, smartphones, and any other digital devices. A responsible internet user will promote pleasant and healthy interactions while remaining alert to harmful or prevalent online frauds. By emphasizing empathy in their online interactions with others, they will steer clear of cyberbullying on social media and other digital platforms.

Four live interaction sessions will be conducted on the given theme, that is on the first Wednesday i.e. 07/09/2022 & the subsequent Friday’s (i.e. 09/09/2022, 16/09/2022, & 23/09/2022). At the end of the session series, a comprehensive quiz will be launched based on all the sessions conducted in the month of September, 2022 on being a safe and responsible digital citizen.

Objectives

The objective of the training program is to be a responsible digital citizen while using technology appropriately and operating online safely and knowledgeably and following secure practices in the digital world.
At the end of the session the participants will be able to-

  • Understand the digital etiquette by following the proper standards of conduct and procedure online.
  • Understand a culture of cyber safety & responsibility in a digital world.
  • Understand the elements of digital citizenship and inculcating the element in the digital world.
  • Understand the digigral rights and responsibilities.
  • Understanding the maximizing benefits and minimizing risks in the digital world.

Step: 3 Participation in Post-Session Activity and Certification: Post session quiz will be conducted based on the 4 sessions listed in the programme schedule, the link of the quiz will be released at the end the 4th session on 23 September, 2022. To get a certificate, participate and score 50% & above. Participants are allowed to take 3 attempts at the quiz.
