Five Hours Online Training Series on
"Learning Management System: MOODLE"
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasises the meaningful integration of digital technologies to enhance access, equity, quality and learning outcomes across all levels of education. The policy recognises technology as a key enabler for flexible, inclusive and learner-centric education, supporting blended and online learning models while strengthening teaching-learning processes. Digital platforms are envisioned as tools to improve learner engagement, facilitate continuous assessment and enable data-informed academic decision-making. Within this framework, Learning Management Systems (LMS) have emerged as essential digital infrastructures for organising, delivering, assessing and monitoring learning experiences. LMS platforms provide structured environments that support flexible learning pathways, enable interaction and collaboration and allow educators to track learner progress systematically. By offering anytime-anywhere access to learning resources, LMS enhances accessibility and addresses diverse learner needs. MOODLE (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment), a widely adopted open-source LMS, aligns closely with the pedagogical vision of NEP 2020. Its open architecture, scalability and flexibility make it suitable for schools, higher education institutions and teacher education programmes. MOODLE supports learner-centric and competency-based education through personalised learning pathways, self-paced progression and continuous assessment with timely feedback. It also promotes collaborative and experiential learning through interactive tools and supports inclusive practices through multimedia, accessibility and multilingual features. Thus, MOODLE functions not merely as a technological platform, but as a pedagogically meaningful ecosystem that advances the transformative goals of NEP 2020.
In this context, CIET-NCERT is organising a five hours online training series titled “Learning Management System (MOODLE)” during 16-20 February 2026 in the English version and 23-27 February 2026 in the Hindi version from 4.00 PM to 5.00 PM. The training aims to empower educators to use MOODLE not merely as a technological platform, but as a pedagogically meaningful tool for supporting experiential, inclusive and competency-based teaching-learning processes. This five-day online training programme has been designed to strengthen the digital and pedagogical competencies of educators for effective utilisation of MOODLE. The programme progresses from an understanding of LMS concepts, policy perspectives, need and scope, to hands-on experience in course design, integration of digital and open educational resources and development of interactive learning activities. It also addresses critical issues related to data privacy, learner safety, digital well-being and ethical use of technology, as envisaged under NEP 2020. The sessions will be broadcast live on NCERT’s Official YouTube Channel and simulcast on PM e-Vidya DTH TV Channels (6–12) and the Jio TV mobile application. Recorded sessions will also be made available through a dedicated YouTube playlist, enabling participants to revisit key concepts and instructional strategies at their convenience.
Objectives:
After completion of the training series, the learner will be able to:
- develop an understanding of the concept, need, scope, and policy perspectives of Learning Management Systems in alignment with the vision and recommendations of NEP 2020.
- design and manage online and blended courses using MOODLE aligned with curriculum objectives and learning outcomes-based education.
- integrate digital and Open Educational Resources (OERs) to enrich courses and promote learner engagement, inclusivity and self-paced learning.
- create and manage interactive learning activities and assessments that support competency-based, experiential and learner-centric pedagogy.
- apply principles of data privacy, cyber security, digital well-being and ethical use of technology to ensure safe and responsible use of LMS-enabled learning environments.
