Online Training Series on

"Personalized Adaptive Learning (PAL)"

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizes the transformative role of technology in enhancing the quality, equity, accessibility and effectiveness of education. It advocates the use of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and data-driven approaches to enable personalized learning experiences that support learners' individual pace and needs (Chapter 23, Paras 23.1, 23.2, and 23.6). Complementing this vision, the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE 2023, Chapter 6, Section 6.4) promotes the meaningful integration of educational technology to support personalized and competency-based learning through differentiated instruction, formative assessment, self-directed learning and ethical use of technology.

The contemporary educational landscape is characterized by increasing learner diversity, with students differing in their abilities, prior knowledge, interests, learning pace, and support needs. Traditional instructional approaches often find it challenging to address these varied learning requirements effectively. The rapid advancement of digital technologies and artificial intelligence has created new opportunities to provide individualized learning experiences that respond to the unique needs of every learner, making Personalized Adaptive Learning (PAL) an important strategy for improving learning outcomes and promoting competency-based education. By identifying learning gaps early and offering appropriate support, PAL enables every learner to progress effectively, fostering equitable, inclusive, and learner-centred education.

Teachers play a central role in the effective implementation of Personalized Adaptive Learning by using learner data to monitor progress, identify learning needs, and provide timely interventions. While adaptive technologies support personalized instruction, teachers remain essential in designing meaningful learning experiences, promoting inclusion, and ensuring the ethical and responsible use of technology. Continuous professional development is therefore essential to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills required to effectively integrate adaptive learning strategies into classroom practice.

In this context, CIET-NCERT is organising an online training programme on "Personalized Adaptive Learning (PAL)" to enhance teachers' understanding of adaptive learning approaches and their effective integration into classroom teaching. The programme aims to strengthen educators' capacity to design learner-centred instructional strategies, effectively use adaptive digital tools, promote competency-based learning, and create inclusive learning environments that respond to the diverse needs of all learners.

Objectives of Training:

On completion of the training series , the learners will be able to:

  1. explain the concept, need and scope of Personalized Adaptive Learning (PAL) in contemporary education.
  2. describe the principles of adaptive curriculum and instructional strategies that address diverse learner needs.
  3. identify digital technologies and platforms that support the implementation of Personalized Adaptive Learning.
  4. explain the role of learning analytics and data-driven approaches in personalizing learning experiences and monitoring learner progress.
  5. describe the applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in PAL and evaluate its potential benefits, challenges and ethical considerations.
