Five-day Live Interactive Series
“Promoting Healthy Lives: Preventing Deficiencies, Diseases and Developmental Delays ”
Date: Date: 17th – 21st August 2026

Children's health, nutrition, and development are fundamental to their learning, participation, and overall well-being. The National Family Health Survey (NFHS-6, 2023–24) highlights both encouraging progress and continuing challenges in child health and nutrition, reinforcing the need for a life-course approach to health promotion and disease prevention. The Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016 lays the foundation for prevention, early identification, intervention, rehabilitation, and inclusive education to ensure equitable learning opportunities for every child. Building on this foundation, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recognises the close relationship between health and education and advocates holistic development by integrating health, nutrition, physical fitness, mental well-being, and socio-emotional learning within the educational ecosystem.
In this context, the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), NCERT is organising a five-day Live Interactive Series titled “Promoting Healthy Lives: Preventing Deficiencies, Diseases, and Developmental Delays” from 17th -21st August, 2026. The online sessions aim to enhance participants' understanding of preventive healthcare, nutrition, developmental monitoring, mental health, and inclusive educational practices.
This initiative will bring together experts from the fields of health, nutrition, child development, and education to promote a collaborative approach towards creating healthy, inclusive, and supportive learning environments where every child can learn, participate, and thrive.

Objectives

After completing the series, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the concepts of deficiencies, diseases, and developmental delays, and their impact on children's health, learning, and development.
  2. Explain the role of nutrition in promoting healthy growth and development and preventing nutritional deficiencies
  3. Recognize early signs of developmental delays and facilitate timely referral and intervention.
  4. Promote healthy practices to prevent communicable and non-communicable diseases among school children.
  5. Strengthen healthy, safe, and inclusive school environments through collaboration with families, communities, and health systems.
