Online Training on

Personal Safety & Device Protection

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasises the importance of developing awareness, skills, and responsible practices for the safe, ethical, and meaningful use of technology (Chapter 23: Technology Use and Integration). With the increasing use of digital devices, online platforms, and internet-enabled services in education and everyday life, personal safety and device protection have become essential aspects of digital literacy. Individuals face various digital risks, including unauthorised access, malware, data theft, identity misuse, privacy breaches, and online threats that may compromise personal information and device security. In this context, the online training programme on “Personal Safety & Device Protection” aims to equip learners, teachers, teacher educators, parents, and other stakeholders with the knowledge and practical skills to protect their digital identities, secure their devices, manage privacy settings, use strong authentication methods, recognise potential security threats, and adopt safe online practices. The programme seeks to promote responsible digital behaviour, strengthen awareness of personal and device security, and foster a safer and more secure digital environment, in line with the broader vision of NEP 2020 for the safe, ethical, and responsible use of technology. The rapid expansion of digital technologies, online platforms, and internet-enabled devices has transformed the way individuals communicate, learn, work, and access information. Alongside these developments, however, there has been a growing risk of digital threats, including unauthorised access, malware, data theft, identity misuse, privacy breaches, and device-related security vulnerabilities. The increasing use of connected devices and online services has made protecting personal information and ensuring digital security more important than ever. In this context, strengthening awareness of personal safety and device protection, along with developing practical skills to identify risks, secure devices, safeguard digital identities, and adopt preventive measures, is essential for creating a safer and more secure digital environment.

Recognizing the growing need to strengthen awareness and protective skills among educators and learners, CIET-NCERT is organizing an online training programme on “Personal Safety & Device Protection” in collaboration with Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA), Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India (GoI), New Delhi- 110003. The training aims to promote safe, responsible, and secure use of digital technologies by strengthening awareness of personal cybersecurity and device protection. The programme will support participants in safeguarding personal information, protecting digital identities, securing mobile devices, practising safe internet browsing, using public Wi-Fi and digital payment services securely, and maintaining a positive digital footprint.
