“Celebrating 1st Anniversary of PM e-VIDYA DTH ISL Channel No. 31 (1st to 6th Dec 2025) ”

ISL Channel No. 31 is a step towards realizing the vision of NEP 2020 for ‘Equitable and Inclusive Education for all.’ In line with this, the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023 strongly emphasizes inclusive education as a core principle, aiming to provide equitable, quality learning opportunities for all children regardless of their background, ability, or socio-economic status. The Ministry of Education (MoE) and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), in keeping with the NEP 2020 recommendation of promoting ISL, launched the ISL channel No. 31, exclusively dedicated to telecast content in ISL on 6th December, 2024, by the Hon’ble Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, in making education inclusive for all, including the children with hearing impairments. Channel No. 31 is based on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles . In addition to academic content, the channel also includes a wide range of supplementary resources Beyond regular programming, the channel has also broadcast several key training initiatives, underscoring its commitment to strengthening ISL skills and promoting inclusive education.

In this regard, the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET) NCERT has planned a week-long set of special programs from 1st to 6th Dec, 2025, on the ISL channel to commemorate the first anniversary of the launch of the channel.

The training sessions will be telecast live on DTH TV channels for classes 1 to 12 under the PM eVIDYA and ISL Channel Number 31 with a simulcast on NCERT’s official YouTube channel and NCERT Events YouTube channel from 12:30 pm to 13:15 pm. The sessions would be bilingual (Hindi and English), accompanied by an Indian Sign Language Interpreter (ISL). The key takeaway is to highlight the importance of early exposure to ISL for improving communication and language development.
