The Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), is a constituent of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). In its premises, three are libraries viz. Audio Library, Video Library, and a Book Library. The Book Library is a separate wing of the NCERT's main Library. CIET mainly works in the area of Research, Development, Training, and Extension in the field of Educational Technology. It aims to promote utilization of Educational Technologies, Radio, Television, Communication, Films, Multimedia etc. for enhancing the quality of school education.
The Book Library in CIET is a Resource Centre of Educational Technology content in the form of books, journals CDs, and Multimedia packages. It is equipped with latest materials on educational technology, which helps faculty and staff of CIET to keep themselves abreast with the latest information and material on educational technology. A large number of outsiders visit the library.
CIET media library has children's corner. The children corner mainly to organize the activities with neighborhood children e.g. reading of books (Printed and Digital), Puppetry: Preparation and use, Expression of ideas through creative art activities i.e. drawing and painting and playback of educational audio-visual and multimedia programmes.
Library Hours
The library remains open throughout the year except on Saturday, Sunday, Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), Dussehra, Diwali, Holi, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (October 2) and on other gazetted holidays.

Monday through Friday: 9.00 a.m. To 5.30 p.m.

Library Collection
Library Services
The CIET Library provides the following services/ facilities:
Circulation Service:
Lending services are available to CIET faculty and Staff as per their entitlement. Circulation timings are from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM on weekdays. Thesis, dissertations, periodicals, magazines, newspapers and bound volumes and CD's are not issuable.
Reference Service:
The library maintains a separate reference collection consisting of fast finding tools such as atlases, maps, handbooks, dictionaries etc. The collections of this section are very precious, enriched and valuable from the reader's point of view.
Reading Service:
This section consists of textbooks, periodicals and newspapers etc. It has a spacious and airy reading room with 20 sitting capacity for readers. There are Eleven types of newspapers on display every day. Among the Five are English (Tribune, Hindu, Times of India, Indian Express etc.) and others are of Hindi Daily newspaper (Navbharat Times, Hindustan, Dainik Jagran etc.).
User Guidance:
The Library users are given assistance in the use of the Library collections, services and in locating misplaced books. The library staff makes a thorough search for the books/ journals reported in the location books. The users are welcome to contact the Librarian.
Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC):
The OPAC allows search by author, title, subject, call number, keywords and Boolean search. The call number indicates the location of books on the shelf. The computer catalog, OPAC is extremely user-friendly and enables searches to be conducted with ease and speed.
New Arrivals:
In this service, new Books displayed are listed and circulated among the Heads and their constituent libraries for reference.
