Mental Health refers to a state of well-being in which individuals realize their abilities, cope with the normal stresses of life,
work productively, and contribute to their communities. It is an essential component of overall health and human development.
The World Health Organization defines mental health as more than the absence of mental illness; it includes emotional, psychological,
and social well-being that enables individuals to function effectively in daily life. India has taken significant steps to strengthen
mental health care through legal and policy measures. The Mental Healthcare Act, 2017, guarantees the right to mental health care,
decriminalizes suicide, mandates insurance coverage, and upholds patient dignity and autonomy. Government initiatives such as Manodarpan
tele helpline, promote mental well-being among students. Despite these efforts, challenges such as stigma, shortage of professionals,
and accessibility barriers persist. The National Education Policy 2020 emphasizes the importance of promoting mental health, well-being,
and holistic development among learners and communities.
In line with NEP 2020, the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), NCERT, has developed a five-day online course,
