Date: 15th June – 19th June 2026
National and international policy frameworks such as the UNCRPD, 2006; RTE Act, 2009; RPWD Act, 2016; NEP 2020, and inclusive education initiatives under Samagra Shiksha strongly emphasise early identification, teacher preparedness, inclusive classrooms, and equitable educational opportunities for children with disabilities. However, there remains a significant gap in awareness and practical understanding among teachers, parents, school leaders, and communities regarding the identification and support of children with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD).
In this context, this five-day online training programme aims to build sensitivity, awareness, and practical capacity among stakeholders by focusing on classroom realities, early signs, emotional experiences of children and families, and inclusive education practices that can be implemented in diverse educational settings. This programme also seeks to promote empathy and dignity by reinforcing the understanding that children with SLD learn differently and require supportive, flexible, inclusive and equitable learning environments.
Objectives
By the end of the training programme, participants will be able to:
- Understand the meaning and characteristics of Specific Learning Disabilities.
- Identify early signs of dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and developmental aphasia in children.
- Understand the emotional, academic, and social challenges faced by children and families.
- Develop empathy and positive attitudes towards children with SLD.
- Learn practical classroom strategies for addressing the needs of children with CWSN.
- Promote awareness and reduce stigma related to learning disabilities.
Who Can Participate?
Anybody and everyone interested in understanding about SLD can participate without any prior experience.
