Online Training on

Safety in Cyber Space

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recognises the potential of digital technologies in education while emphasising the need to address the risks associated with online and digital learning. It highlights the need to leverage technology while mitigating its adverse effects, including concerns relating to device addiction (para 24.1 and para 24.5). Further, it emphasises awareness of privacy, laws, standards relating to data handling and data protection, and ethical issues associated with emerging technologies (para 23.13). The NCF-SE 2023 explicitly addresses precautions in the use of information and communication technology in school education. It underscores the importance of protecting students from online risks, safeguarding their privacy and exercising caution regarding inappropriate online content (part B, section 6.4). It also highlights the responsibility of schools to ensure student safety during technology-enabled learning.

Recognizing the growing need to strengthen awareness on cyber safety and security among students, teachers and teacher educators, CIET-NCERT is organising a special training on “Safety in Cyber Space” as part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month during 19 - 30 October 2026. The training aims to promote safe, responsible, and ethical use of technology and foster responsible digital citizenship. It will also support participants in understanding cyber risks, adopting safe digital practices, protecting children from online threats, and responding appropriately to cyber incidents.
