Five Hours Online Training Series on
"Development of Online Course"
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 mandates that every teacher complete 50 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) annually to ensure the continuous enhancement of professional competencies and pedagogical practices. With nearly one crore teachers serving across diverse regions and institutions in India, organizing large-scale face-to-face capacity-building programmes poses substantial logistical and operational challenges. In this context, online courses offer a scalable, flexible, and technology-enabled solution to address the professional development needs of educators nationwide. Recognizing this opportunity, multiple stakeholders have initiated the development of online courses. However, the growing demand underscores the urgent need to ensure that such courses are of high quality, pedagogically sound, and aligned with established standards. It is therefore imperative to understand the essential principles and processes involved in developing effective online courses.
To address this need, the Central Institute of Educational Technology & Training Division (CIET&TD), National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is organizing an online training titled “Development of Online Course” from 02 to 13 March 2026, scheduled daily from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The online training aims to build the capacity of key stakeholders to comprehend, design, develop, and deliver structured online courses in a pedagogically sound, inclusive, and effective manner. It will focus on digital pedagogy, instructional design, learner engagement strategies, and assessment practices tailored to online learning environments.
The sessions will be broadcast live on NCERT's OFFICIAL YouTube channel and simultaneously telecast through PM eVidya DTH TV Channels (6 to 12) as well as the JioTV mobile application, ensuring wide accessibility. This training will be also made as an online course to certify the participants.
