Effective Communication: A Digital Toolkit for Educators
Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), a constituent unit of NCERT, is developing an e-resource for students based on textbooks. Its major aim is to promote the utilisation of educational technologies, viz. Audio, Video, multimedia packages, Satellite communications, and cyber media, either separately or in combinations. The institute undertakes activities to widen educational opportunities, promote equity and improve the quality of educational processes at the school level.
Educational repositories hosted by the institute, like DIKSHA (One Nation One Digital Platform) and ePathshala, host a large number of educational resources in various school subjects and in different Indian languages for Foundational, Middle and Secondary classes. Resources are made available in different formats such as documents, images, graphics, animation, audio, video, and interactive programmes.
As digital tools and platforms have been proven to benefit students, teachers, and school leaders in enhancing learning, administration, and collaboration, Google Workspace for Education and allied applications will be promoted with a clear system for feedback and user ratings to ensure their effectiveness and quality in school transformation. NEP 2020 envisions the integration of digital technology at all levels of education to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality learning. It emphasizes the use of advanced digital platforms and tools to support school management, enable teacher professional development, and promote active engagement of students in technology-enabled learning environments.
The policy highlights the need for robust digital infrastructures, data-driven decision-making, and capacity building of teachers and leaders to effectively integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education. In this context, Google Workspace for Education, AI tools like Gemini, and associated tools offer a comprehensive digital ecosystem that aligns with the vision of NEP 2020 to make schools more collaborative, transparent, and efficient.
In this connection, Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), in partnership with Google for Education, is launching "Effective Communication: A Digital Toolkit for Educators," a special series of online training programmes scheduled from October 12-15, 2026, from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. Each session will be conducted virtually through live streaming from the NCERT studio and will include expert presentations and demonstrations. The complete series will also be compiled and made available as a course on the DIKSHA portal to ensure wider access among the educational community. School principals, Headmasters, Teachers, administrators, and Education policymakers and stakeholders will be invited for the training programme.
The objectives of the online series are:
● Empower with Digital Communication Skills: Equip educators with the competencies to leverage Gmail, Calendar, Chat, Meet, and Sites, enhanced by Gemini AI, for effective classroom management and stakeholder communication.
● Demonstrate NEP 2020 Alignment: Showcase how digital tools and strategies can be used to implement key NEP 2020 goals, such as transparent school governance, ensuring inclusive practices, and managing teacher professional development.
● Inspire Practical Application: Provide concrete examples and strategies for using technology to improve operational efficiency, enhance communication with stakeholders, and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
