Online Training on

“Safety in Cyberspace”

The increasing presence of digital tools in education, communication, and everyday life has brought both significant advantages and critical concerns. With the internet becoming a central platform for learning and interaction, it is essential for individuals to understand the foundational elements of navigating digital spaces with caution and competence. Recognising and addressing the various risks associated with cyberspace is now a collective responsibility.

The infrastructure that supports our digital engagement must be both robust and secure. An informed understanding of underlying technologies, digital safety protocols, and preventive mechanisms is essential for ensuring protection against online threats. Participants must be able to identify common vulnerabilities and adopt secure practices in order to safeguard their personal and professional digital interactions.

Equally important is the impact of online environments on mental and emotional well-being. Continuous exposure to digital content, cyberbullying, and lack of boundaries between online and offline life can contribute to psychological stress. There is a growing need to explore how digital habits influence cognitive and emotional health, and to promote strategies that support mental resilience in connected spaces.

The physical implications of extended technology use also deserve careful attention. From poor posture and vision strain to fatigue and inactivity, the effects of prolonged digital engagement extend beyond the screen. Encouraging conscious use of devices and balancing screen time with healthy routines is essential for long-term physical wellness in the digital age.

Social behaviour and ethical awareness in online spaces are becoming increasingly relevant. How individuals communicate, share information, and respect others in virtual settings reflects the larger culture of digital interaction. Fostering a sense of responsibility, empathy, and integrity in cyberspace is vital for building a safer and more inclusive digital society.

To address these evolving dimensions, CIET-NCERT is organising a five-day online training programme titled “Safety in Cyberspace”. This initiative brings together experts from across the country to explore key issues related to technical infrastructure, psychological health, physical well-being, ethical conduct, and legal awareness in digital spaces. The programme aims to foster responsible digital behaviour and strengthen individual resilience against cyber threats.

The training will be conducted in two versions: the English version from 5ᵗʰ to 9ᵗʰ May 2025 and the Hindi version from 12ᵗʰ to 16ᵗʰ May 2025, with sessions held daily from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. All sessions will be broadcast live from the CIET-NCERT studio via NCERT’s YouTube Channel, PM eVidya DTH TV Channels (6 to 12), and the Jio TV mobile app. Recordings will also be made available through a dedicated playlist to enable continued access and learning.
