Online Training Series on
"Video Resources: Script to Screen"
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, in its chapter on ‘Technology Use and Integration’, emphasises the transformative role of digital technology in education and highlights the importance of developing engaging, accessible, and inclusive digital learning resources to enhance the quality of teaching and learning. It encourages the integration of multimedia, audio-visual materials, and technology-enabled resources to support experiential, learner-centred, and interactive pedagogical practices (chapter 23, para 23.1, 23.5 & 23.6). In line with this vision, the NCF-SE 2023 on educational technology in schools emphasises how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can strengthen teaching-learning processes, promote digital literacy, and empower learners through meaningful integration of technology in schools (chapter 6, sections 6.21 & 6.2.2). Educational videos have emerged as an important medium for supporting conceptual understanding, self-paced learning, skill development, and wider dissemination of quality educational content across diverse learning contexts.
In the current educational landscape, the increasing use of digital platforms, online learning environments, and multimedia-based instruction has created a growing need for well-designed, pedagogically sound educational video resources. The development of effective educational videos involves conceptualisation, script writing, visual planning, production, editing, and evaluation to ensure clarity, relevance, accessibility, and learner engagement. Script writing serves as the foundation of educational video production, helping content creators organise ideas systematically and communicate concepts in a learner-friendly, meaningful manner. Similarly, visual planning, editing techniques, and evaluation processes contribute significantly to the overall effectiveness and quality of video resources. The development of educational videos in Indian Sign Language (ISL) further promotes inclusivity and equitable access to learning for diverse learners. Therefore, teachers, teacher-educators, content developers, and media professionals need to strengthen their competencies in planning, developing, producing, and evaluating educational video resources aligned with curricular and learner needs.
In this context, CIET-NCERT is organising an online training on “Video Resources: Script to Screen” to strengthen the capacities of teachers, teacher-educators, content developers, media professionals, and other stakeholders in the development of educational video resources. The training aims to develop understanding of educational video production processes, script writing techniques, video editing practices, development of Indian Sign Language (ISL) videos and strategies for creating engaging, inclusive and effective digital learning content.
